Jews are a people of the land and have been connected to it for thousands of years. Many Jewish values go hand in hand with caring for the environment such as Tikkun Olam. Additionally, nature provides a perfect exploration of Jewish values such as Hit’orerut (Amazement and Gratitude) or D’rash (Inquiry). When children are allowed to play in outdoor environments it helps to build a sense of kehillah or community. They learn to experiment and take risks together.
